In July 2012, the Chinese Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council issued the “Notice on Implementing the Zero-tariff Treatment of Certain Goods under the ‘Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement’ and the ‘Mainland and Macao Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement’ in the Second Half of 2012”.
The “Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement’” and the “Mainland and Macao Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement’” are collectively known as the CEPAs.
Pursuant to this Notice, from 1 July 2012, certain goods which are under the CEPAs and originating from Hong Kong and Macau will be entitled to zero-tariff treatment. These goods also include seven types of goods originating from Hong Kong and one type of commodity originating from Macau that meet the origin criteria newly established after consultation.
The Notice can be found here.
