China issues new regulations for foreign companies publishing online content

In February 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued regulations in which foreign owned and partly foreign owned companies are banned from publishing online content without prior approval from the Chinese government.  Only wholly Chinese owned companies may publish online content without prior approval from the government, but are subject to self-censorship.  The new regulations are expected to become effective in March 2016.
